  3. I have finished two novels so far these holidays. The first one was 'The Golden Straw' by Catherine Cookson and the second, 'Jessica' by Bryce Courtenay. I enjoyed them both. What are you reading?

  4. Hi Mrs Butters, In the holidays I read 7 Jack Russell Dog Detective books by Darrel and Sally Odgers. I really liked reading them because they had mysteries, funny dog words and they were about dogs.

  7. I read the book Wacky Sports from the District Library. This book covered crazy sports like dustbin racing and cheese rolling. I think we should use the hills behind school and do an event like cheese rolling but using a ball. Elephant polo looks really dangerous because tou could get hurt if you fall off. 1. Hi Michael, Thanks so much for your comments on the BLOG! Maybe we should ask Mrs Watson if we can do the rolling ball activity at sports time! I think the elephant polo could be tricky... Not many elephants in Wanganui :)

  8. my story by Michael Absolum
There was a Fighter standing in the Ring, waiting for his opponent. His opponent had a long mohawk and his overalls were red and green. He had a sleek green mask with glitter on it, his name is Rey Mysterio. Rey Mysterio looked at the Fighter, his eyes narrowed as his went to his starting corner, waiting for the bell to ring. Ding ding ding the match started and punches were all over the place, the Fighter kicked his opponent but he grabbed the leg and slammed him into the ground. Rey Mysterio pinned him to the ground and won. I looked at patrick and I was furious because Patrick won as he waved his controller up in the air. We went on the tramp and fought so I could get revenge. I won.

  11. This is my report on the Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier.

    The Silver Sword
    Ian Serraillier
    25.3.17

The Silver Sword is a story about siblings Edek Balicki, Ruth Balicki, Bronia Balicki, and Jan, a friend they meet in their travels during their escape from war torn Warsaw, Poland to Switzerland. Throughout their journey they put all their trust on a Silver Sword that was their father Joseph Balikis, and the promise he made to them. Ruth the oldest of the siblings steps up as leader during their journey and Jan becomes their main provider of food by means of stealing. Meanwhile Edek gets taken away to fight and Ruth, Broina and Jan have to try and find him, but will their journey to Posen to find Edek be successful or will they have to make it without him? It’s a cool story but quite sad at the same time to see that some families had to go through as much as they did.

My favorite character is Jan because although Jan is not part of Joseph's family he is loyal and willing to help them no matter what. When Joseph gives him the sword he puts trust in him to keep it safe and Jan treats the Silver Sword like it is special treasure with lots of love and care. He’s helpful and kind even though he doesn't know anything about the family at the start yet he grows as part of the family and by the end of his journey with them he finds himself accepted by Ruth’s parents and asked to join their family.

I like the way it describes the everyday challenges and how the kindness of people can help others so much. I also like how everyone who they come across everyone they don’t all help some brush the away and others try to hunt them and catch them.

    1. Hey Philip! Thanks for sharing your book review. I haven't read The Silver Sword but I know it's a popular book. It's neat that you have shared it on the Mosston Library Blog! (You might like to proof read the last paragraph!) I'm so glad that you are still an avid reader :)
