Book and Library Jokes

What kind of berries make you smarter?
Li-berries!

Why did the frog leave the library with a book?
Because he needed to readit-readit-readit!

What do kids and books have inside their bodies to keep them all together?
A spine!

When is an apple like a library book?
When it's read!

What is the tallest building?
The library because it has the most stories!

Where does a librarian sleep?
Under the covers!

Why does the skeleton go to the library?
He likes to 'bone up' on his favourite subject (and I'm not ribbing you either!)

What does the mummy do when he goes to the library?
He gets wrapped up in a good book!

Do you know how many librarians it takes to screw in a light-bulb?
No, but I know where you can look it up!

Librarian - Knock Knock
Student - Who's there?
Librarian - Winnie Thupp
Student - Winnie Thupp who?
Librarian - He's in the fiction section, and so is Piglet!

Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.
Lemony Snicket

Library Poem by Julia Donaldson
Everyone is welcome to walk through the door.
It really doesn't matter if you're rich or poor.
There are books in boxes and books on shelves.
They're free for you to borrow, so help yourselves.

Come and meet your heroes, old and new,
From William the Conqueror to Winnie the Pooh.
You can look into the Mirror or read The Times,
Or bring along a toddler to chant some rhymes.

The librarian's a friend who loves to lend,
So see if there's a book that she can recommend.
Read that book, and if you're bitten
You can borrow all the other ones the author's written.

Are you into battles or biography?

Are you keen on gerbils or geography?
Gardening or ghosts? Sharks or science fiction?
There's something here for everyone, whatever your addiction.

There are students revising, deep in concentration,
And school kids doing projects, finding inspiration.
Over in the corner there's a table with seating,
So come along and join in the Book Club meeting.

Yes, come to the library! Browse and borrow,
And help make sure it'll still be here tomorrow.

Quotes

“I wanted to crawl in between those black lines of print, the way you crawl through a fence, and go to sleep under that beautiful big green fig-tree.”

Sylvia Plath

No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.
Confucius (551-497 BC)
